Scania Chile’s facilities were transformed this Saturday into the stage for a new edition of the Top Team, Scania’s global technical training program aimed at driving the professional development of its service network personnel. In this event, the Trueno team, representing Talca, was crowned the new national champion, securing their place in the Latin American Regional Final, which will be held in November in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
More than 8,000 professionals from around the world are participating this year in Top Team, Scania’s global competition that promotes continuous improvement in technical skills, collaborative work, and operational excellence. Representatives from over 70 countries are part of this program, which seeks to raise quality and service standards in the brand’s branches worldwide.
María José Herrera, Director of People, Culture and Sustainability at Scania Chile, stated that Top Team reflects key values such as teamwork, safety, and customer orientation. «At Scania, we have a team prepared to deliver the best service, with a clear focus on doing the job well and always caring for people.»
In Chile, the 2025 edition brought together 21 teams from different regions, who had to overcome an initial theoretical stage. From there, the six finalists emerged, who reached the grand national final, a day marked by technical evaluation stations and support activities. The tests put their ability to diagnose faults, solve operational problems, and execute key procedures on Scania trucks, buses, engines, and transmissions to the test.
«This program reflects what we believe in at Scania: that technical knowledge and teamwork are the foundation of excellent service. Seeing our teams face each challenge with professionalism and passion is a testament to the high standard we want for our network. More than a competition, this is a continuous training process that directly impacts the experience of our customers,» commented Agustín Castillo, Director of Services at Scania Chile.
For his part, Mauricio Berríos, a member of the winning team, highlighted the team’s effort and commitment: «The competition was complex, but we had a very capable team and we achieved the goal we had longed for. We would meet after work to practice and review the information. The best part was the journey, being able to work as a team and feel the certainty that we did a good job. It was a very nice experience that brought us even closer as a group. We are very happy to move on to the next stage, it has been spectacular.»
The Trueno team, which will represent Chile in the Regional Final, will face the champions from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Guatemala, and Uruguay in Buenos Aires. The two teams with the best performance in this stage will qualify for the World Final, which will be held in May 2026 in Södertälje, Sweden, Scania’s headquarters.
