Jeannette Jara’s campaign team has defended the time they have taken to construct the new government program, following criticism from the president of the Christian Democratic Party (DC), Francisco Huenchumilla.
The DC leader accused a delay in the presentation of the document and called for improvements to the campaign. Earlier in September, Jara’s campaign team had set a deadline to present the program by early October. However, there have been critical voices accusing a «delay» in the development of the document, including the president of the DC, Francisco Huenchumilla.
Balancing Diverse Perspectives
Huenchumilla stated that the program needs to be reviewed by each party and that it is relevant to resolve this issue soon. «In the programmatic aspect, I am complaining about a certain delay, because we have to give a political vision to the program before signing it definitively,» he said in a conversation with ADN.
From Jara’s campaign team, the economic coordinator, Luis Eduardo Escobar, called on Huenchumilla to be patient, pointing out that «these things are not spontaneously generated.»
Improving the Campaign Strategy
Huenchumilla’s criticism was not limited to the program delay. He also commented on what could be polished to improve the campaign. The senator pointed out that «in a campaign with a coalition of eight or nine parties, it is very important to join in,» adding that «it is not about running a campaign (…) with the hardcore fans.»
This opinion was responded to by the general secretary of the PPD and a member of the campaign’s strategic committee, José Toro, who stated that there is always room for improvement. He added that «in a campaign of this nature, all teams must be included» and that it is important for the criticism to be made in the appropriate spaces.
Finalizing the Program
During this week, it is expected that the thematic commissions working on proposals will present their drafts to the central team, which will systematize the information into the final program.
