This announcement was made during a reception at the residence of the Chilean Ambassador to the United Nations, Paula Narváez.

Chile’s commitment to the multilateral system and international human rights institutions is unwavering. As the Undersecretary highlighted, Chile believes in multilateralism and in international human rights institutions because we have been able to experience firsthand the role that international cooperation and solidarity can play in putting an end to human rights violations, advancing truth and justice, and repairing the victims of these serious crimes.

Chile’s candidacy will be presented at an upcoming meeting in New York, where more than a hundred countries will participate in the election process.
